Love em or hate em...they're not going away anytime soon. I'm speaking of standardized college admissions tests, affectionately known as the ACT and SAT. So stop kicking, screaming, and fighting it. Get signed up for the tests you need to take, when you need to take them...and then get off the couch, log out of Facebook, close the laptop and start preparing! Learning the differences between the two tests is the first step. Playing to your test-taking strengths is the second.
Research shows that practice makes perfect. Okay, so you may not hit a "perfect 36" on the ACT or a "2400" on the SAT, but you should be shooting for the stars when it comes to these tests. And the more you practice, the better your chances will be at maximizing your test taking potential. And who doesn't want that?
Chances are, your high school does a darn good job at getting you ready for the ACT and SAT by simply infusing most of the course material into their curricululm. But like any athlete trying to perform at a higher level, it takes more than just your classes at school to get your best scores. You may want to think about taking a Prep Course so that you can target your efforts at achieving your best score. After learning how the tests are designed and the best strategy techniques, the best thing you can do to work on getting a higher score is to take many 'timed' practice tests. It is important, when checking your practice tests to pay attention the your wrong answers....and find out how to correct them.
While practice may not equate to absolute perfection, it can help you achieve a higher score. With all that is at stake in the college admissions arena, a 2-3 point increase can be life-changing when it comes to acceptance into certain schools or scholarship opportunities. Go on....get practicing!!
